We were initially instructed to carry out a Japanese knotweed survey for our client, where herbicide treatment and removal options were discussed. After consideration, our client decided that they wanted to proceed with complete excavation and screening of the Japanese knotweed onsite. Prior to the start of the works this week, the infestation was treated to help suppress growth and minimise the risk of spread.
We used a mini digger to excavate the infestation and manually screened the soil using a small electric-powered trommel screener to remove all traces of knotweed rhizomes and material. The rhizomes and material were then placed in secure dumpy bags for onward transportation to a licensed landfill transfer station under EPA 1990 Duty of Care Guidelines. The cleaned soils were then backfilled into the excavated area.
All works were completed within a 5-day timeframe, with the client expressing great satisfaction for the works completed.
