We were initially instructed to carry out a Japanese knotweed survey for our commercial client, where removal options were discussed.
After careful consideration, the client decided to proceed with a complete onsite excavation and screening of the infestation.
Prior to works commencing this on site, the knotweed was treated to suppress growth and minimise any risk of spread.
Once the area was certified safe to continue, we resumed excavation using a mini digger and manually screened the soil with an electric-powered trommel screener to remove all traces of knotweed rhizomes and material. The excavated material was securely contained in dumpy bags and transported to a licensed landfill transfer station in accordance with EPA 1990 Duty of Care Guidelines. The cleaned soils were then backfilled into the excavated area.
All works were successfully completed within a 5-day timeframe, with the client expressing great satisfaction with the professionalism and quality of the works.
A big well done to our team for their excellent work, professionalism, and safe handling of unexpected site conditions!
