Our client discovered a running bamboo infestation when they were constructing a new-build housing scheme which required removal.
Prior to commencing works, the area was inspected by the site supervisor. The boundary line adjacent to the neighbouring fence was clearly marked, and underground services were identified using available service drawings to ensure safe excavation.
Excavation then began within the affected bamboo area. Soil was carefully removed, and all bamboo rhizomes were thoroughly extracted. A trench was subsequently excavated along the boundary fence separating the site from the neighbouring property to facilitate installation of a root barrier.
A high-density polyethylene bamboo root barrier was installed vertically within the trench. The trench was then backfilled using excavated soil that had been cleared of bamboo material. The soil was compacted in layers to minimise settlement, and the area will be reinstated to match the surrounding ground levels.
