Our client has recently brought a home in Hertford where Japanese knotweed was present. The previous owner had a Herbicide treatment programme in place with ourselves that was keeping the Japanese knotweed under control. The new homeowner is looking to build a home office at the rear of the garden which would mean complete excavation of the Japanese knotweed.
We discussed with the client the possibility of a dig and dump or screening and together we decided screening would be the most cost effective and efficient solution.
The Japanese knotweed area was excavated using small plant machinery and placed onto a biosecurity barrier. Our technicians then manually screened the soil using a small electric powered trommel screener to remove all traces of knotweed rhizomes and material. The rhizomes and material were then placed in secure dumpy bags for onward transportation to a licensed landfill transfer station under EPA 1990 Duty of Care Guidelines. The cleaned soils were reinstated in the voids.
This was our first successful job of 2024 and our client was very pleased with the outcome. Well done Team!!!
